why do we hope?glimmer of hope. light at the end of the tunnel. it only takes a spark to get a fire going. ray of light.
many more phrases (like those above) that express hope.
why do we desire for some things to happen, and actually expect them to. when we hope, we wait, and we put ourself at the peril of whatever we had hoped for. with hope there can be disappointment. with hope we allow ourselves to be placed high up on the pedestal, possibly to be slammed down - spirits crushed. some people say they rather not expect, because they won't be disappointed. isn't hoping worst? we not only expect, we actually desire for it to happen. and worst still, when we look back at our lives, and think of the things we do hope for - some rather silly, some out-of-this-world, some realistically possible. we're brought down to this very basic truth, we all hope, some way or another, one way or another.
i was thinking, what makes us human?
'when we come to terms with our very fragile humanity'
and that we all have the same basic needs of love, approval from others, and somehow the innate ability to hope too makes us human.
why do i hope?
let me paint a picture. in the background it's a dark, cold, horrible blackhole. yet in the foreground, is this ray of light that is unwilling to be 'crushed' by the blackhole. because i believe that the blackhole no matter how powerful it is - even able to destroy physical light, was created somehow. and that in the foreground of this light, has the power to reveal an even bigger force (yes better and bigger than the theoretical quantum tunneling behavior at such a grand scale- shows i do my research in blogging also, haha) that will in time obliterate the blackhole.
may not make sense to the scientist. but you know no matter how powerful the blackhole is, it's still at the mercy of time. still at the mercy of space.
maybe a part ii.. think i went a bit off at the last bit of this post.
