service today

gosh almost couldn't wake up today for church. anyway by no means sounding as if it's great entertainment (because no that isn't what church is), today was special (great would sound as if i went to a show...).

for the first time in my short stint at wesley, nearly half the congregation went forward for the altar call at the end of the service. and truly it isn't the eloquence of the speaker that captivated, but the Spirit. it was amazing, truly amazing.

the speaker was none other than ex-trac president's wife dr shirleylim. and one thing really struck, when we know there is no reason for people to come to us, yet they do, we can only be in awe of God working in us. i think it applies especially when we try to take on a multitude of things, only to realise we can't do it. and when we acknowledge that bankruptcy, then can we do it through His strength, not ours. definitely will lend this sermon some day, will go into dear iPod.

i realise ps kayhuat is really funny and interesting, especially when he's doing the announcements. last week he didn't get his required response from the congregation (was at traditional) and so he went, 'no clapping?'. then today he scared the congregation by saying 'as you know there was the trac conference...' and 'there's good and bad news, the bad news is that pastor wendywatson will be transferred out of wesley' (immediately there were shocked responses, gasps and all) and then he followed 'rev wendywatson will be posted in'. like hello?!?

since this blog entry seems more like a reporting log, i'll continue with my observations. saw des choo in church! like after a zillion years (okay exaggeration) of not seeing her during service. i remember i used to see her nearly every week during a period of time. seriously, like the hall is very small... and rev wendy wore this black and pink stripes outfit with her dog-collar. like seriously, how funky is that. usually the dog-collar 'uniform' is boring black or drab colours. but stripes! the only other pastor that has cool dog-collar shirts is rev alvinchan, whom dear tania thought once upon a time was just another youth attending her friend's wedding, and not the pastor conducting the wedding!

okay i will stop before the lack of sleep makes me deviate further from my normal post structure.
