did i ever mention on this blog that i do love both traditional and contemporary worship services.
whilst traditional services might be viewed as dreary, dull and slow i love it for the tradition, solemness, peacefulness, beauty of the poetic nature of hymns. will share some hymns which i truly love... they speak multitudes of love the hymn writers have for God. some verses from my favourite hymns:
be thou my visiono Lord of my heart
naught be all else to me
save that thou art
...
still be my vision,
o ruler of all
this is my Father's worldand to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres
this is my Father's world
i rest me in the though
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought
and can it be that i should gain
an interest in the Saviour's blood
died He for me, who caused His pain
for me, who Him to death pursued
amazing love! how can it be
that Thou my God shouldst die for me
amazing love! how can it be
that Thou my God shouldst die for me
love divine, all loves excellingjoy of heaven to earth come down
fix in us thy humble dwelling
all thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion
pure unbounded love Thou art
visit us with Thy salvation
enter every trembling heart
breathe, o breathe Thy loving Spirit,
into every troubled breast
let us all in Thee inherit
let us find that second rest
take away our bent to sinning
alpha and omega be
end of faith, as its beginning
set out hearts at liberty
He leadeth me,
o blessed thought!
o words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
whate’er I do, where’er I be
still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
by His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
for by His hand He leadeth me.
