denial?

i realise more often than not, we all like to run away from things, we all rather live in denial rather than face up to problems.

it doesn't make sense right, why do we run away or try in vain to hide, yes we're probably happy for a while, but the problem comes back and it does bite you in the backside - which is so pain and catches you unaware.

i think that's how people sink into depression, being caught off guard - all their problems they ran away from culmulating and crashing down on them..

what exactly is denial? it is a psychological defence mechanism, when a person is faced with something uncomfortable or hurting that he/ she chooses to reject it by refusing to acknowledge it's existence. sounds familiar? we do that all too often, our initial responses to things we cannot believe but somehow know it's logically true, or worst still when all evidence points to us to direct us to face up to it, we...

RUN,

hide as we can we do everything we can, BUT

face up to it.

i'm not trying to blame anyone, for we are all guilty of running away from things, either once upon a time or maybe even now. i don't think anyone can say, 'no i haven't ran away from anything before! no i was and never is in denial!'. i think if anyone can say that they are really in denial and are running away from something in their life. my point is this, how then to we derive the strength and good courage we need to face up to our problems?

that's my question to you, simply phrased, how do we muster the strength to face up to issues we know we have to tackle?

i know my answer, do you know yours?

because one thing i've learnt, running away just keeps you further from anything you've set to accomplish. being in denial, makes you like a hermit, more fearful, less bold, and unhappy...
