the money up for grabs on the missing link on class 95 fm has snowballed to 1000 buckaroos. i knew the answer yesterday when they gave the first word, same today. and guess what? obviously i didn't get through if not i'll be jumping for joy already.

i cannot stand those singaporeans who call in and give some stupid answer that seemed to have been thought of at that instant, like -knock knock-, it's like our 'cheap free sale die die must get' mentality, forever wanting a slice of the pie, whether it is actually going to waste our time or even embarass ourselves, doesn't matter cos we've got this ingrained kiasu selfish mentality. am i wrong? don't wish to dwelve so much... but i'll state the missing link example. so the reason the money has snowballed isn't because the words are so darn hard to guess, but crap it's so darn easy, as long as you think a bit, actually you don't even have to, the answer just shouts itself to you... but no, they didn't get it... why? i'm wondering too... maybe, just maybe it has something to do with our kiasu mindset, everything chiong ar!!! good, bad, even shit i also want la!!!! as long as got lobang!!!!!! die die cannot be left out leh!!!!!!!!!

(obviously it's good to chiong, to just plunge into things, but first you gotta know what you're plunging into, that is what people don't see)

so here these fellow comrades are depriving other singaporeans, fervent listeners of the 'missing link' (ok i do admit i'm not tt fervent but at least i know the answer) a chance to even call through, leaving us stranded, pulling our hair out when that bugger who somehow got through couldn't get the easy answer.

i'll cite a salient very recent example:

give you 3 clues...

1 - o for orange
clue - it can be grand

and this point i was thinking to myself, sounds like a piano... i mean they'll usually give you stuff that has a name associated with grand or something like that, cos the catch is in 'it can be' and not 'it is', unlike palaces or castles, which are usually stereotyped as grand no matter how awful they actually look.

2 - i (i think, only heard it when the dj was giving out the 3rd clue which got me all pumped up)
clue - it can be watched or something like that

3 - p
clue - it can be played

the word played is a big whack to the skull, hello, the word itself it shouting at you to just say it out!

but no, people just don't think. so here's one piece of good advice, before you embarass yourself on national radio for being a selfish stupid bastard, okay that's rather extreme but it's just pissing off when we should seek progress it seems we're moving backwards, so not only can we not differentiate right from left, we cannot differentiate backwards from forwards?

this game isn't a big deal actually, it just convinced me more that we still have a long way to go.. thankfully, i think people my age look at things differently, hopefully that can make some difference.

was re-reading my entry and it seems slightly kiddish, some youth ranting at not getting her hands at 1000 bucks. ahaaa, which obviously cannot be true cos the probability of me getting through just doesn't work in my favour... anyway my point is, i'm ranting not because i didn't get the 1000 bucks but because some people just don't care, not only for others, but for themselves also.

and we're supposed to be a 'civilised society'...

(i know i'm only using one example, obviously there are many more, people around you, even you! i'm not hoping that this will be a utopia but at least know we still got lots more to go)
