'...it would seem the most obvious choice that the universe is the most enigmatic of all, however upon further introspection, it is not so...'
that got me thinking...
i suppose what makes the universe so mysterious is the galaxies that are out there, all those mysterious places that we don't know about; the vastness of space in general that makes it so enigmatic. yet, it isn't as complex and mysterious as this world of ours - earth, and yes, her inhabitants.
what makes us homosapiens so special? our cognitive ability?
Cognition - knowing, perceiving, and thinking. It is a defining property of what it is to be a human being and is studied by psychologists, neuroscientists, computer scientists, and philosophers who are interested in an organism’s ability to think.
i suppose that is it. all of us has the power of cognition and this ability is what makes us so complex even to ourselves. firstly, this is a widely studied field - the mind and how it works, and yet, so little has been figured out, and the little bit we know, or should i say, the more we uncover, the less we know.
and why are we able to only find out so little in the first place? so, i suppose we're not as smart as we think we are. there has to be a higher power up there, causing all these obstacles to a potential breakthrough. somehow, through all these enigmatic problems, we've come to realise that there's a limit to science and we can only turn to something also as enigmatic as the myriad of mysteries... religion.
