it is so weird when i just sit in front of my comp. trying to think of things to write. sometimes when i think of something nice to write i'm obviously nowhere near a comp. oh geez, so it's like all the interesting stuff i have to say just blows away... like the very air that surrounds us, it vanishes from something palpable to yes, thin air. oh well... good things don't usually last.

let me just transfer something i saved in my phone this morning as i was walking to school...

my bio teacher asked this question during practical:

'why is the orange red ppt. suspended in the test tube?'

when i heard that question i started looking at the practical worksheet to see if i can infer anything from the info. given. unfortunately there was nothing in the worksheet related to the question.

the whole class somehow couldn't think of the answer. when asked they gave answers like 'due to the kinetic particle theory', 'because it is hot', 'the temperature is high' etc...

until one girl mentioned something like 'time'. yes, the answer is if given time to settle, the ppt. will obviously settle at the bottom of the test tube. but how can students, supposedly the top 25% of the cohort be unable to answer such a simple question?

that brings me back to how muggerfied pupils have become. like, what happened to our general knowledge, our common sense? is there something wrong with how we're learning? or is it just how students have somehow evolved to become 'robots' with not much sense of their own. it seems to me that most pupils are just regurgitators of what they have learnt and that education in school is actually confined. you do hear pupils and teachers saying 'that one not in the syllabus, no need to learn', which direction is learning heading to? just for the benefit of ensuring oneself a job (preferably a good one). is this the reason for learning? do we learn the sciences, humanities for the sake of employment? just think... how many students dislike studying because it's boring, ask youself, is learning actually boring? think deeper, search your soul and the answer is obvious.

it does give me something to think about...
